Dr. Solita Rene' Jones was born in Dallas, TX and raised in the heart of West Tampa under the care of her grandparents: Johnnie B. Jones and Cassie Mae Jones. She graduated from Hillsborough High School from the International Baccalaureate program with a 6.0 weighted GPA. She was the recipient of a local scholarship awarded by the D.E.L.T.A., Inc. Foundation, in collaboration with the Tampa Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Dr. Jones went on to attend the University of South Florida under a full scholarship, funded by the George W. Jenkins scholarship from Publix Supermarkets charities. At USF, she majored in Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Women's studies. Between college and her matriculation to medical school, she had several jobs that preserved her connection to the community and mentorship of at risk teenagers by involvement in the Tampa Bay Academy of Hope, STEM program as well as several other organizations. She even started her own business offering private, at home tutoring services to high school students. She went on to attend Meharry Medical College in Nashville, TN where she graduated in the top 10% of her class with high honors and inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She completed her obstetrics and gynecology resident at the University of Mississippi Medical Center (in Jackson, MS). Her passion is to provide care in the field of Maternal Fetal Medicine, practicing high-risk obstetrics while continuing to serve the underserved. She now serves patients in the South Carolina area.
